HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
As early as 7000 years ago, people where living on the Marawa Island near Abu Dhabi. Around 3000 BC copper was being processed. Impressive round graves on the Island Umm al-Nar near Abu Dhabi are from 2000 BC. The first jewelry made of gold dates back to 1500 BBC. During the Iron Age – around 1000 BC – an irrigation system was already being used.
In the 7th and 8th century smaller coastal city states already had trade relations with each other going as far as the Mediterranean Sea. During this time the Charidischits established a state.
